“HATCH” – A call for submissions

Hatch is a verb, Hatch is a noun. Hatch is a space for work that is or wants to be performance-y. Set to transform the live art horizon in Nottingham, Hatch’s first action will be an event on Tuesday 6 May 2008 showcasing the best East Midlands-based practitioners of performance-y work we are able to assemble in the same place at the same time.

Beginnings:
As Hatch  starts tapping on the inside of its shell, making the first cracks through which it becomes visible to the world, we invite potential collaborators to present their thoughts, in whatever form they might take, on the idea of beginnings. For us this evening represents the birth of new ideas, new relationships, new structures and new lifestyles. We’ll be anticipating this evening like a sprinter waiting for the starting pistol, a child for their first day at big school, a condemned man waiting for dawn.

Invitation:
We can’t do this on our own. We need help from people who feel like they’ve been waiting for something to start too, other people who want to take an idea and run with it without knowing where they’re going to end up. We need you. Get in touch with us and let us know who you are. We can offer no budget at this stage, but we will be providing marketing and technical support and an opportunity for feedback from the Hatch  albumen – a community of artists working in live art and performance in Nottingham.

Submission:
Please send a short proposal (one side of A4) for the performance-y work you might want to present on Tuesday 6 May 2008 in Nottingham  (venue tbc). Please include technical spec. and any links to websites, clips etc.
